Entry Systems

Entry systems are typically installed at the main point(s) of entry to provide two-way communication between building tenants and visitors. These systems can be used as an additional security measure to screen visitors before they enter a building, as well as means of access control for the building tenants. Apartment buildings, office buildings and college campuses are some of the commercial properties that can benefit from entry systems.

Components of an Entry System

Intercom

An intercom system can be a perfect solution for a business/property that receives many daily visitors who need to be verified before they are allowed access. By calling and talking to a building tenant or a security officer, a visitor can identify themselves and state the purpose of the visit. Additionally, if the building is under a curfew, access can be granted to violators via intercom on a case-by-case basis.

Modern intercom systems can work with existing phone lines, eliminating the need for a dedicated central line. There are also stand-alone intercom systems that don’t require integration with a phone line at all.

A Video Component

A video component adds an extra layer of security to a standard voice-based intercom system. When an intercom system is integrated with your CCTV network, you get an opportunity to see your visitor before you let them in, which can help identify suspicious behavior. And it also reduces the likelihood of an intruder slipping through the door after an authorized guest.

If you opt for an entry system with a built-in video component, you can see the face of your visitor in addition to hearing the voice. The camera is typically placed above the microphone and is facing the caller, which is the angle that can’t be achieved with the CCTV camera placement.

Gate and Door Operators

Intercom entry systems come with the convenience of letting visitors in with a push of a button. This means that your entry system must be connected to your doors and gates through gate operators and magnetic door locks. For building tenants, a keypad with an access code is often used to open a door or a gate from the outside.

At TechneTronics, we can help you select and install an intercom system that meets your security needs, whether you run a small office or a high-rise apartment building. Having spent years in the security industry, we are familiar with all leading intercom system manufacturers such as DoorKing, Aiphone and Keri.
